A power system feasibility study at the Eabametoong First Nation in northwestern Ontario will investigate ways to reduce the community's electrical costs, create job opportunities and provide environmentally friendly hydro generation and distribution.

FedNor is contributing $66,201 towards the study, which will evaluate and guide future development for the community's electrical system, from remote diesel to more economical means. The funding is designated for professional engineering fees, hiring a First Nations project manager, labour and equipment, and helicopters. FedNor is contributing a further $90,000 for a feasibility study regarding the development of a permanent road to link the community to the provincial and national highway system.
