Sudbury secondary schools are competing on May 7 to see who has the best design for head frames used in local mines in the Popsicle Stick Head Frame Competition.
The competition is at Cambrian College’s eDome and runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Students will construct head frames for a mineshaft using only Popsicle sticks, round toothpicks, carpenter’s glue and hardwood dowels. These models will then be put to the test for overall load performance.
The competition is one of then events in the annual Sudbury Mining Week.
