TV Ontario's Steve Paikin is paying special attention to Northern Ontario's resource economy this month.

Paikin's current events program, The Agenda, heads to Sault Ste. Marie Nov. 16-17 for an interactive community discussion.

The Sault is the second of his five Ontario city stops including Windsor, Thunder Bay, Kingston and Waterloo.

The two-day event will look at how people in places like the Sault have been affected by the crisis in the world's financial centres.

Other stops are coming up in Kingston, Jan. 18/19; Thunder Bay, Feb. 8/9; and in Waterloo, Mar. 29/30. For details go online to www.tvo.org/agendacamp.

Paikin's road trip coincides with the Ontario government's Growth Plan for the region.

Representatives from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure will be making stops in cities across the North this winter. The sessions include in-depth public discussions on mining, value-added forestry, education and training, agriculture, tourism and Aboriginal development.

The next session is Nov. 26 and 27 in Sault Ste. Marie when government officials will be holding technical sessions on transportation and alternative energy.
