Sault Ste. Marie green tech company, SITTM Technologies Inc., is receiving $135,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to continue its ongoing development of small-scale bio-diesel production refinery.
The fully-automated machine transforms waste and virgin vegetable oil into bio-diesel. The company is targeting the agricultural sector for use by farmers and small businesses in rural and northern communities.
“By investing in this biofuel project we are supporting the development of a clean technology that will reduce emissions for a healthier community,” said Sault MPP David Orazietti in a Dec. 9 statement.
The expanding company moved last summer to the Blue Heron Industrial Park on the Batchewana First Nation.
