Sault Ste. Marie's City Centre Travelodge is going green with its EcoStay program, a national initiative that helps hotels reduce their carbon footprint.

Dominic Ruscio, the hotel's general manager, said "it's a meaningful and effective way of demonstration our concern for the environment."

Under the program, the hotel will collect two dollars per night from hotel guests. Funds will be used to purchase carbon offsets in support of emission-reducing projects across the country such as renewable energy, sustainable farming, energy efficiency, composting and recycling.
