Palmer Construction Group is receiving $785,000 in provincial funding to support the Sault Ste. Marie contractor's $2.5-million expansion of its aggregate products.

The aggregate and construction company is using the money to buy more rock crushing equipment, a heavy loader, an excavator and a scale.

The government money is coming through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp (NOHFC).

In a July 14 statement, company president Terry Rainone was "grateful and appreciative" of the government assistance to make the project a "reality and further allows our company to vertically integrate its operations and become more self-sustaining and efficient."

Sault MPP David Orazietti said the McGuinty government has increased NOHFC's budget by $10 million to a total of $90 million to assist businesses in adding value to their products.
