The first annual Workplace Health and Safety Conference takes place at Sudbury's Howard Johnson Hotel and Conference Centre Sept. 19 and 20. Experts in the areas of certification training, managing an aging workforce, ergonomics and employer/employee legislative obligations will field questions during two days of workshops, sessions and exhibits. The event is sponsored by the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, RDMS Disability Consultants and the Employers' Advocacy Council. The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board states if businesses do not complete the second phase of health and safety certification by Dec. 31, they must retrain their employees in Phase 1.
