The proponents behind a Red Rock flooring plant is applying to the Ontario Power Authority for a purchase agreement involving a proposed $100 million co-generation facility.
The 40-megawatt co-gen plant proposed by Red Rock Mill Inc. would use wood waste generated by the operation to heat the plant and use the rest to sell to the provincial grid.
Queen's Park is looking for 16,000 more megawatts in renewable energy generated from biomass.
The mill project has been idle since November 2006. The new plant owners have retrofitted the mill to make floor instead of linerboard. The mill could create as many as 125 production and co-gen jobs.
