Nine young entrepreneurs in the Timmins and Hearst areas are receiving a total of $225,000 in provincial funding to assist with their business start-ups.
More than 15 new jobs are being created immediately, while another 13 will be created across the next three years.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is providing the funding, which will help support Hearst-based companies such as BIM Visuals, an architectural design studio for residential and commercial projects, and Marchand Welding, a mobile welding business.
Timmins recipients include Coates Geographics, a business providing geographical information systems (GIS) services to small companies and individuals. Funding has also been provided locally to Kaylan Tremblay to establish a photography business specializing in wildlife, sports and location shoots.
