Political leaders descend on Sudbury for FONOM

Much of Northern Ontario's political leadership will be on hand at the Holiday Inn in Sudbury from May 6 - 8 for a joint summit between the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Much of Northern Ontario's political leadership will be on hand at the Holiday Inn in Sudbury from May 6 - 8 for a joint summit between the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The three-day event covers a broad range of talks, including relationships between First Nations and municipalities, the Green Energy Act, and planning for new infrastructure.
Various concurrent sessions will also be held, covering such topics as the modernization of the Mining Act, capital investment, and affordable housing.
The Northern Ontario Growth Plan will also feature in discussions by the assistant deputy ministers from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, and the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal.
A ministers' forum is to be held on the morning of May 8, which will be attended by: Minister of Natural Resources Donna Cansfield, Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle, Minister of Tourism Monique Smith, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure George Smitherman.
Carol Mitchell, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, will also be in attendance.
