Penguin Automated Systems Inc. has developed a Robot Mapping System (RoboMaptm) that is capable of accurately mapping tunnels and transferring this data into engineering CAD systems.
The information collected provides an accurate location through a specialized military grade inertial referencing system (IRS). The IRS component of the system is linked to multiple laser scanners that provide high precision tunnel profiling while the system is being driven forward.
The system is a significant advance in tunnel profiling technology and has the potential to measure tunnel surface roughness, tunnel roadbed quality and tunnel ground support quality a company release states.
