Oops speaking out of turn for TTC streetcar contract

Premier Dalton McGuinty did not expect a $1.2 billion bill from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar contract. In fact, it was not budgeted.

Premier Dalton McGuinty did not expect a $1.2 billion bill from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar contract. In fact, it was not budgeted.
TTC awarded the contract to Bombardier last week which could see much of the work being done in Thunder Bay.
McGunity's statements echoled Ontario Infrastructure Minister George Smitherman who said the workers in Thunder Bay got an announcement from an entity that doesn't actually have the financial means to back it up.
Smitherman went on to say the mayor of Toronto made no mention of the streetcars during a February meeting. Instead, the Union Station and Sheppard Avenure Light Rail were discussed.
