Ontario Realty Corporation is certifiably green

An Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) building in Thunder Bay is the recipient of the 2008 Earth Award given by the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA).


An Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) building in Thunder Bay is the recipient of the 2008 Earth Award given by the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA).

The BOMA Canada Earth Award honours "exceptional efforts" to promote environmental excellence in the commercial building industry.

ORC's Red River Road office is one of 25 ORC buildings in Ontario that have received this environmental certification including offices in Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, and at another ORC Thunder Bay building on South James Street.

The winners are recognized for demonstrating leadership in implementing new and innovative approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adopting to climate change.

"We have a leading role in reducing the carbon footprint of government buildings for the benefit of future generations in Ontario," said ORC president and CEO Dave Glass in a statement.

The Thunder Bay building is one of 25 government-owned facilities in the ORC portfolio to be certified Go Green Plus (now BOMA BESt), and one of two facilities in Thunder Bay to receive the recognition.
