The Ontario Forestry Coalition's standing committee is asking the Ontario government to continue supporting programs that will sustain the long-term viability of the forest industry.

In a letter to the government they have ask for the protection of the 24 million cubic metres wood supply per-year (m3/yr ) for future use.

They are also concerned with how the new Endangered Species Act (ESA) will reduce fibre supply, and are requesting that the government maintain the Crown rates for poplar and birch no greater than $1.07/m3 for the next three years.

Other recommendations includes funding for infrastructure upgrades and the implementation of new programs.
