Businesses can register online with both levels of government with the click of a mouse. The joint initiative between Ontario and the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) significantly reduces what used to take about six weeks to just 20 minutes. Those planning to operate in Ontario can use the CCRA/Ontario Business Connects service at self-help computer workstations at 16 CCRA offices in the province. Entrepreneurs can register for or renew a business name, apply for employer health tax, retail sales tax, workplace safety and insurance board accounts. They can also register for major CCRA business programs including GST, corporate income tax, payroll reductions and import/export accounts.
