Net Central is completing the last phase of the fibre optics infrastructure

in Parry Sound while implementing wired and wireless systems through parts

of Manitoulin Island.

Morry Brown, general manger of Net Central, says broadband connectivity to

Parry Sound will be activated this August.

"We are waiting for various permitting," Brown adds.

The completion of the connectivity will bring a considerable broadband and

bandwidth to the area, and will enable services to be available in Britt

and tie in almost the whole Net Central network, Brown explains.

They are also implementing high-speed services on Manitoulin Island.

Consortium members are in the process of constructing a fibre optic line

from M'Chigeeng to Sucker Creek. In the meantime Browns says they are

experimenting with wireless applications in Gore Bay, Killarney and Little

Current.

"It may take a few weeks to make sure the systems are up and running."

Other lines are expected to be implemented in the fall.
