EACOM Timber Corp. finalized its acquisition of four sawmills in Northern Ontario from Domtar, July 1.
The Montreal company picked operating mills in Timmins, Nairn Centre, Gogama and two in Quebec for $80 million, plus elements of $46.5 million in working capital. A non-operating mill in Ear Falls was included in the deal.
The sawmills have 3.5 million cubic metres of annual harvesting rights and a production capacity of close to 900 million board feet.
Also included in the transaction is Domtar's investment in Anthony-Domtar, an engineered wood products mill in Sault Ste. Marie, and the Elk Lake Planing Mill in northeastern Ontario.
