While construction of Northern College's new Centre of Excellence for Trades and Technology continues apace in Timmins, a $1 million shortfall remains in providing equipment for the facility.
“Success in completing this remaining fundraising goal is critical to the college being able to provide students with the opportunity to learn and train utilizing the latest technologies,” said Northern College President Fred Gibbons in a release.
“This is what gives our students a competitive advantage when seeking employment.”
The $17.3-million, 33,000-square-foot location is on target to be completed in time for classes in the fall. A $4-million investment in next-gen video-conferencing equipment will allow the centre to deliver trades directly to the school's Moosonee campus.
