The municipalitiy of West Nipissing and Sturgeon Falls are getting some provincial funding to beautify its waterfront and continue development around Minnehaha Bay.

A second round of development is taking place in the northeastern Ontario community to link downtown Sturgeon Falls to new scenic parks on the Lake Nipissing waterfront.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) has committed $1 million to the project under its Infrastructure and Community Development Program.

The projects under development include an open air theatre, a memorial park, a suspended boardwalk, a harbour office and a trail system.

NOHFC previously committed $435,000 for the first phase of development.

The new developments are expected to create 35 jobs during construction. The municipality of West Nipissing is located just east of North Bay on the Trans-Canada Highway and includes the town of Sturgeon Falls.
