North American Palladium reports the discovery of a new platinum group metals zone at its Lac des Iles (LDI) mine in northwestern Ontario.

The new zone, named the Sheriff Zone, was intersected within 100 metres of its Offset Zone. As well, the company reports finding extensions to its Offset and Cowboy Zones which appear open at depth.

President William Biggar is pleased with the 2010 exploration program and believes LDI can continue to grow its reserve.

“We are very excited with the discovery of the new Sheriff Zone, which in addition to the Cowboy and Outlaw Zones, has the potential to increase annual production rates and extend LDI's mine life.”

The company's $15-million exploration program involved 53,000 metres of drilling with five drills completing 148 holes.
