Canadian Blood Services is opening a new $12-million call centre in the City of Greater Sudbury to handle calls on blood services from across the nation. The National Contact Centre, slated for completion in 2003, is expected to create 100 full-time jobs in Sudbury. Although the cost of constructing the building is projected at $12 million, Canadian Blood Services anticipates cost savings of about $9 million in its first five years of operation, says an official with Canadian Blood Services.
Sudbury was selected as the site for the call centre because of its large bilingual workforce, good lease rates and supportive municipal government, an official says.
The centre will be both an inbound and outbound call centre, accepting calls from donors booking appointments or seeking information, as well as making outbound phone calls to citizens.
The facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
