An accident at Falconbridge Ltd.'s Fraser Mine near Onaping has claimed the life of an employee.
On July 28, an unidentified man sustained fatal injuries while blasting ore down a hung-up ore chute on the mine's 3,600-foot level. The man became pinned down by the chute gate, and was rushed to the hospital. He died on Sunday, July 30.
The accident is being investigated by the Greater Sudbury Police, the Ministry of Labour, Mine Mill Local 598/CAW and the company.
