The second annual Ontario Mine Reclamation symposium is scheduled for June 9 and 10 in Timmins.
The event is being held at the Porcupine Campus of Northern College. It's being sponsored by the Ontario Mining Association, the Canadian Land Reclamation Association and Goldcorp.
The program will include a field trip providing an extensive overview of mine rehabilitation work at a number of area sites.
There's also a celebratory element this year with 2009 being the 100 year anniversary of mining in Timmins.
It will also be awards night with the winner of the Tom Peters Memorial Reclamation Award being announced. Last year's winner in Kirkland Lake was the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines for the work completed on the Kam Kotia property in Timmins.
