Manitoulin Transport opened a new, 100,000-square-foot facility in Acheson, Alberta this week. It's expected to allow for more shipping capacity and provide customers with added transportation services.
The terminal, located 24 km west of Edmonton, is the latest in a series of investments made into western Canada this year.
In April, the company acquired Exalta Transport Corp., including seven terminals and more than 300 pieces of company-owned equipment. Following that was the acquisition of the less-than-truckload (LTL) arm of Penner International.
Manitoulin Transport's two existing Edmonton terminals have now been consolidated into the new facility, along with its personnel.
