With several projects in the Timmins camp, Liberty Mines Inc. has drawn on two former Xstrata Canada heads to bolster its staff and board of directors.
Effective Sept. 2, Mark Trevisiol will be Liberty's vice-president and chief operating officer. He has already been named to the company's board of directors. A 20-year mining veteran, Trevisiol is a professional engineer who most recently acted as Xstrata Canada's general manager of Business Development and Strategy. Previously, he had been the general manager of Sudbury's Smelter Business Unit.
Also named to Liberty's board of directors is Brent Chertow, a professional engineer with more than 30 years experience. Prior to his retirement from Xstrata Canada, he served as the president of Canadian Copper and Recycling, where he oversaw 3,500 personnel throughout nine North American operations. He had also served as the vice-president of Metallurgical Operations, where he oversaw the performance of facilities including the Sudbury Nickel Smelter and the Timmins Kidd Metallurgical Division.
