A joint venture formed between Leo Alarie and Sons Construction Ltd. and the Wahgoshig First Nation has received nearly $15 million contract by Apollo Gold's to develop their Black Fox mine site in the Timmins region.
Under the name of Wahgoshig Alarie Construction, the joint venture will excavate and dispose of nearly two million cubic metres of overburden. It will also construct mine access roads. The work has already begun and will be complete in April 2009.
Mining activity is expected to begin in late March 2009.
In December 2007, Leo Alarie and Sons was acquired by the Toronto-based Aecon Group Inc., Canada's largest publicly traded construction and infrastructure development company.
