Pic River First Nation is seeking compensation from the provincial and federal governments and the town of Marathon for profits, taxes, stumpage dues and royalties resulting from a land claim issue.
The First Nation filed the suit in July alleging they did not sign the Robertson Superior Treaty of 1850, which gave up the aboriginal land rights to the Crown.
The lawsuit seeks title to land extending from Terrace Bay in the west, Manitouwadge in the north, White Lake Provincial Park in the east and the Slate Islands in the south.
All of the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
