Laurentian University officially installed its ninth president, Dominic Giroux, during the first spring convocation ceremony on June 2.
Giroux is expected to give his first public discussion of his short- and long-term goals for the university at a luncheon to be hosted by the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Sudbury on Monday, June 22.

As president, Giroux now also chairs the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation as well as the executive committee of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He now also serves on the Council of the Ontario Mineral Industry Cluster.
Previously, he served as assistant deputy minister with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. There, he led a team of 1,200 across the two ministries in 10 cities, including Sudbury, North Bay, and Thunder Bay.
