Laurentian celebrates top researchers

Applause and accolades were on offer when Sudbury's Laurentian University recognized the accomplishments of its top researchers on Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. in the main campus' J.N. Desmarais Library Rotunda.

 
Applause and accolades were on offer when Sudbury's Laurentian University recognized the accomplishments of its top researchers on Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. in the main campus' J.N. Desmarais Library Rotunda.

The celebration highlighted the recipients of research awards from various granting agencies. These include the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

Recently, Laurentian University's new Welcoming Communities Initiative was awarded $1 million by the Community-University Research Alliance from the SSHRC. The project seeks to measurably increase community attraction and create sustainable communities by testing and implementing various strategies.
