Lakehead University is showcasing the talent of its researchers this week in Thunder Bay.
Research and Innovation Week, running Feb. 20-27, kicks off with a keynote address by Dr. Chad Gaffield, president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, on how campus research can reshape communities.
Among the presentations include one from Ontario Power Generation's Jane Todd speaking on Lakehead's involvement with biomass testing at coal-burning power plants in northwestern Ontario.
The week-long event will feature a film of Lakehead's Paleo DNA Lab and their work in researching the "Lost Tomb of Jesus."
Graduate students will also be presenting papers on such topics as blueberries as a commercial crop option in post-harvest peatlands, fuel characteristics of trees in northwestern Ontario and autonomous navigation algorithms for indoor robots.
