Exploration through the fiscal year ending April 30 was fruitful for Kirkland Lake Gold, where related work has resulted in resource and reserve gains in excess of 388,000 ounces.
Much of the company's efforts in the Kirkland Lake camp through the year focused on its Main Break as well as the South Mine Complex (SMC), where increases are attributable to drifting, as well as definition diamond drilling and exploration diamond drilling.
On the SMC, reserve ounces increased four per cent from 696,000 to 721,000. Measured and indicated resource ounces jumped 63 per cent, from 302,000 to 492,000. Inferred ounces increased 15 per cent from 590,000 to 677,000.
The company's exploration for the current fiscal year is set at $7.1 million, an increase of $1.8 million over the previous year.
