The City of Kenora is receiving a $5-million injection from FedNor to assist in servicing two new industrial parks. The developments, which will receive municipal and water sewer extensions, are located next to the proposed Trus Joist Weyerhaeuser site, a $250-million TimberStrand plant scheduled to open in November 2002. Municipal officials believe the mill, and the 200 jobs it will provide, will spin off further growth and development in the community. With Weyerhaeuser as an anchor tenant in the city's industrial expansion project, they anticipate Kenora is on its way to fulfilling its strategic goal of 1,000 new jobs by 2010.
