Next year's G8 Summit of world leaders in Huntsville is sure to benefit the Parry Sound-Muskoka area, said its MPP Tony Clement, Canada's Industry Minister.
Clement recently told delegates at Community Futures Development Corporation symposium that FedNor is starting a review of regional tourism opportunities related to hosting the 2008 summit.
The report, to be completed at the end of March will outline the criteria to evaluate and respond to the demand for G8-related projects.
The spinoff effects are expected to reach as far north as North Bay where that city received $10 million to repave its 10,000-foot runway, likely to receive arriving world leaders.
Clement's riding stands to benefit greatly with $50 million in "G8 Summit related infrastructure" including a $20 million G8 Centre in Huntsville to host the June 25-27 event.
