The Hornepayne sawmill was awarded 220,000 cubic metres per year of wood fibre. It produces dimension lumber in lengths from six to sixteen feet, rough or planed, green or dried.

The company was co-founded in 1953 by Norwegan immigrants Olav and Elna Haavaldsrud who bought a small pulp log manufacturing plant.

So far, 27 accepted wood supply offers have been announced to date putting more than 3,600,000 cubic metres per year of wood.

In a statement, company president Carlo Bin was pleased the province endorsed his plans to expand, diversify and retain 100 jobs.

The company plans to expand lumber production and supply residual wood to a co-generation facility which is under construction.
