Lund Gold has completed its first phase of exploration at its Blackfox property near Hemlo.

The Vancouver junior miner has property 225 km east of Thunder Bay and 70 kilometres west of the Hemlo gold deposit. It lies within an extension of the Schreiber-Hemlo Greenstone Belt which is host to the 25 million ounce Hemlo gold deposit.

Company officials said some initial results show gold in soil anomalies up to 1260 parts per billion gold and six areas warrant some follow-up exploration.

Rock samples contain up to two grams per tonne gold and there is “minimal outcrop” exposed throughout the property.

The exploration program consisted of detailed geological and geochemical sampling and mapping, prospecting, line-cutting and detailed ground magnetic surveying.

The discovery of a high grade gold float near the centre of the Blackfox property was sampled and assayed at the Thunder Bay Ministry of Northern Development and Mines office and returned “consistent results” ranging from 165 to 189 g/t gold.

A follow-up program is planned for early June.
