The Hearst Economic Development Corporation and the Nord Aski Regional Economic Development Corporation received $6,225 from the provincial government to support a recent tour by a delegation representing several Finnish companies investigating opportunities in the forest industry. The visiting delegation visited local forestry operations, a bio-energy willow plantation and potential bio-energy sites.

The money came through the Ontario government's Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program. The same program is being used to plan a recreational vehicle park at a Nipigon marina. The Township of Nipigon is getting $5,000 to compile a design and tender package of the site that will be made available to potential investors.
