Have your say on Sault waterfront development

Sault Ste. Marie's Economic Development Corporation wants the public to come up with ideas on how to develop a prime waterfront site.

Sault Ste. Marie's Economic Development Corporation wants the public to come up with ideas on how to develop a prime waterfront site.
After several failed attempts working through various developers to build a tourist attraction on the 14-acre Gateway site, the EDC is turning to the community and business community for input.
The city has dealt with several proponents over the last decade but none have successfully moved forward in developing the site.
The EDC now wants a "fresh new development approach" by investigating some home-grown ideas that would involve "willing and capable" stakeholders to develop a tourism attraction and supporting business on site.
People with a development concept or idea that would bring tourists to the Sault and create jobs are asked to submit submissions. The Gateway Development Opportunity homepage is at www.sault-canada.com. The EDC is accepting proposals until Feb. 27 at 4 p.m.
