The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce recognized their local business and community success stories and individuals at their annual meeting and awards luncheon, Oct. 17.
Gary Dumanski of Dumanski Office Interiors took home the Skipper Manzutti Award for Business.
The company was also presented with the Entrepreneur/Business of the Year Award. John Hollingsworth of Soo Mill received the Paul Dalseg Award given to the businessperson who has demonstrated outstanding exemplary interest in the community.
Forest BioProducts was presented with the Community Capacity Building Award.
Northside Toyota was presented with the Business Development Award given to the business that demonstrates a positive initiative for job creation and growth. The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) was presented with the Service Sector Award given to the small government department or not-for-profit that goes "beyond the normal call of duty" in assisting businesses with their dealings.
Jeff McWhinney of Schuster, Boyd, McDonald was recognized as the chamber''s Volunteer of the Year
Other winners included Johnson's RV, Sault College and Lyons TIM-BR Mart. Chamber president Katherine McRae was given the Athena Award for her service in assisting women in attaining their professional goals.
