The Algonquin Wildlands League is earmarking $20,123 in FedNor funding towards hiring a project co-ordinator for a forestry entrepreneurship program near Sault Ste. Marie. The co-ordinator will consult with local forestry companies, government agencies, First Nations, and any interested organizations to determine what interest there is in a Forest Tenant Farming Program in the Searchmont-Goulais River watershed. The funding helps pay the salary and benefits of the project co-ordinator. The program will provide business and job opportunities for those who wish to practise forest management.
