Industry Minister and Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement delivered more than $1.6 million in FedNor funds to his home riding, Dec. 5.
The Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre gets the biggest chunk of change with more than $1 million to support economic development and small business growth. The organization also receives $22,500 to support infrastructure improvements at the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport.
The Muskoka Community Network receives $539,200 for its expanded regional ICT network to allow the organization to deploy broadband services to underserviced communities. The MCN also received $48,000 to pay for an digital economic conference held last October in Huntsville.
The remainder of the money went to the Muskoka Trails Council ($27,500) to hire a FedNor Youth Intern and the Village of Burk's Falls ($21,000) to do a feasibility study to identify opportunities related with the construction of a new central community education complex.
