FedNor is sending $75,000 to the Canadian Curling Association to help Sault Ste. Marie in hosting the 2010 Canadian Women's Curling Championship.
Also known as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the money will be channelled to the Soo Curlers Association for the Jan. 30 to Feb. 7 event at the Essar Centre.
“Sporting events of this calibre are excellent opportunities to promote Northern Ontario,” said Tony Clement, Minister of Industry.
“FedNor's support will enable us to transform the Soo Curlers Association venue into a premier visitor facility for the 10-day period, housing participants, media and volunteers, and helping Sault Ste. Marie to shine in the national spotlight,” said Greg Stremlaw, CEO of the Canadian Curling Association.
