The City of North Bay is receiving $120,000 in FedNor funding for economic development initiatives and a French festival coordinator.
The city obtained $45,000 in FedNor funding to update the community’s commercial development strategy.
Once complete, the report will identify potential investment opportunities to promote and encourage commercial growth in the North Bay area.
Another $75,000 FedNor investment will allow for a coordinator to be hired for a three year period to help with the Festival Franco-Fun's success.
The coordinator will be working to raise the festival’s profile in the province
establish it as a regional tourist destination with the goal of attracting thousands of tourists and visitors each year.
Festival Franco-Fun is a series of events and activities, hosted by communities across the South Temiskaming region, designed to promote the French language and help preserve francophone culture in Northern Ontario.
