Ottawa is spending $250,000 for a new snowplow and upgraded approach lights at the Red Lake airport.

The money is coming through the Airports Capital Assistance Program.

Kenora MP Greg Rickford and Labour Minister Lisa Raitt made the announcement in Red Lake March 21.

“Safe and efficient airports are vital to the local economies of smaller communities,” said Rickford in a statement.

The Red Lake airport opened a new passenger terminal last year to handle increasing passenger volume.
