European investment firm takes controlling share in Dumas Contracting

Timmins-based Dumas Contracting, one of the country's largest mining and engineering firms, has struck an agreement giving a controlling interest in the company to European based Pala Investments Holdings Limited.

Timmins-based Dumas Contracting, one of the country's largest mining and engineering firms, has struck an agreement giving a controlling interest in the company to European based Pala Investments Holdings Limited.

Daniel Dumas will remain president and CEO, and will continue to be a "significant shareholder."

"We believe this partnership puts Dumas in an excellent position to provide its customers with the highest level of support in their operations around the world," said Jan Castro, managing director with Pala Investments AG, in a release.

Founded in 1994, Dumas employs more than 1,000 people, and specializes in underground mining. It currently offers raise boring capabilities alongside mine construction, shaft sinking, mine development, surface construction, and engineering services.
