Elliot Lake is continuing its strategy to diversify its economy and upgrade infrastructure following an investment of $3.8 million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp.
Funding from the Eves government flows from the NOHFC as well as from the Patten Post Diversification Fund (PPDF). The PPDF was announced in 2001 and is designed specifically to assist North Shore area communities in their economic diversification efforts.
“This Ontario government investment will bring about major improvements in municipal services and help stimulate the local economy, contributing to a better quality of life and increased prosperity in Elliot Lake,” says Mayor George Farkouh. “We are delighted with the province’s response to our community’s needs.”
