A school of architecture being proposed for Greater Sudbury received a pledge for financial support to the tune of $50,000 from Downtown Sudbury, an association of local businesspeople.
However, funding for the $35-million capital project would be contingent on locating the facility downtown, something which project chair Blaine Nichols has long said to be part of the original goal.
The funding would go towards the design budget for the 75,000-square-foot building, which is tentatively targeting 2011 as a potential start date for a first run of students.
Linked with Laurentian University, the school would feature a six-year master's program and would employ 20 faculty and staff.
