Discover Abitibi releases new round of aeromagnetic data

Results from the latest airborne geophysical surveys conducted by the Timmins Economic Development Corporation's Discover Abitibi Initiative have been released.

Results from the latest airborne geophysical surveys conducted by the Timmins Economic Development Corporation's Discover Abitibi Initiative have been released.

This survey covered a greenstone belt in the Burntbush area north of Cochrane and involves more than 35,000 line-kilometres of high-resolution magnetometer data.

"The new data should allow exploration companies and prospectors to evaluate their properties more quickly and the quality of the data should allow them to utilize new processing technology to enhance their targeting ability," said Robert Calhoun, project manager, in a release.

To date, the initiative has spent more than $12 million on projects geared to stimulating exploration activity in the North.
Results from the survey can be found through local Ontario Geological Survey offices, downloaded through the Geological Survey of Canada through the Internet or ordered online from either organization.
