The Discover Abitibi Initiative has landed $1.3 million from the province to help continue its efforts to support mineral exploration in Northern Ontario.
The program, which is led by the Timmins Economic Development Corporation, got the shot in the arm through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. The money will assist with the creation of nine new projects designed to enhance geophysical knowledge of the Timmins, Kirkland Lake and Cochrane areas.
This marks the fifth phase of the Discover Abitibi project, which first began in 2002 as a means of stimulating mineral exploration.
