Cleanup is underway at the Kam Kotia Mine tailings site near Timmins. Rehabilitation work to contain leaking mine tailings is expected to begin in June. A lime plant is being erected to neutralize acidity in the area. The $12-million cleanup, funded by the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, is expected to take two years. Pollutants seeping from the site should be contained by summer's end.
