The De Beers' Victor project on the James Bay coast is at a standstill after talks between the diamond producer and the Attawapiskat First Nation broke off in late September.
De Beers Canada is considering cancelling its winter exploration program after community representatives could not agree on an agenda for discussions to resolve issues raised by the band. The company, which has spent $40 million on the project, is in the midst of pre-feasibility work scheduled for completion by year's end.
